Katy Sioan of web development company Business Edge

from Katy - I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from Ramapo College in northern NJ, but as is often the case, my degree had little bearing on my career choices. With a background working in various customer centric positions including account manager, import manager and even recruiter, I was really excited to have the opportunity to work for such a cutting edge company in arguably the most competitive industry. And, Business Edge is conveniently located in my town! Although I have a strong background in office administration as a side component of various positions I’ve held, my job here is exposing me to a deeper level of involvement with respect to accounting, human resources and recruiting, which I really enjoy.

What do you do here?

A little bit of everything! On any given day, I will respond to emails as the Office Manager, HR Manager, Accountant or resident Recruiter depending on what’s on the day’s agenda. My job never gets boring and I love the opportunity to work with our employees, customers and vendors.

What do you do when you’re not here?

Chase crazy children. I have a nearly 2 year old daughter and just this side of 7 son. They keep me extremely busy, but aside from that I enjoy cooking, reading about nutrition (did I really just have another Shamrock Shake??) and even golf when all the stars line up and I can get away for a few hours.

What is my favorite movie of all time?

Smokey and the Bandit – isn’t it everyone’s??

Where is your favorite place you’ve visited? Where would you like to go that you haven’t yet?

I love Myrtle Beach. My parents are there and 100+ golf courses! I’d love to visit Scotland. Not sure why, but I’d like to go. Something about kilts and castles, I think.

What video game do you enjoy the most? Do you like to play alone or with friends?

I might be ostracized here in the office for saying this, but video games are on par with root canals in my opinion, but in all fairness, I have to say that watching my son play MineCraft can be somewhat entertaining at times.

Do you play any musical instruments? Have you ever been in a band?

Not unless you count the 3rd grade Recorder. Oh and a year of Flute lessons. No band would have me.

Who is your favorite singer or band? Would you dance in public to their music? If not, how much money would it take for you to dance in public to their music?

James Taylor is my all-time favorite singer/songwriter, but I have eclectic tastes that span many genres of music including country, pop, rock, hip hop, etc. Dance? No. No amount of money. None.

If you had a million dollars, what would you do?

I have no idea. But, I’d like to have the opportunity to find out!

Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari?

Firefox. I’m not a developer; I like animals :)
